Building use conversions always come with obstacles, but when mixed with stringent zoning laws, provisioning centers come with a unique set of design challenges that have a direct impact on the overall environment of the space. For this proposed Warren, MI dispensary, the main objective was to bring in light. The entryway uses wood slatted skylights to allow natural light to filter into the waiting room. Material selections pay homage to the industrial nature of the site’s location, with concrete and metal finishes. The retail portion of the business employs a clean aesthetic, but uses similar materials to achieve cohesion.
Facade updates include resizing and positioning existing windows to meet code, material changes, and the addition of a canopy. Upgraded site features include the addition of landscape, and garden beds.
